Josefina Castillo Baltodano, J.D.

 

Dr. Baltodano was at the University of California, Berkeley, as an administrator and faculty member from 1980 to 1998; during that period, she developed and led the Academic Achievement Division and taught in the Ethnic Studies Department. She served at Alliant International University in California as Executive Vice President for Strategic Planning and Advancement and University Professor. She also served at John F. Kennedy University, California, where she was Vice President for University Research, Vice President for University Relations, and Dean and Professor, School of Management. In addition, she completed a one-year appointment, 2009-2010, as Senior Advisor to the President, External Relations of California State University, East Bay.

She is a member and past chair of the Network Executive Board of the American Council on Education’s Office of Women in Higher Education and serves on the American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Commission.

Currently, she is serving UC Berkeley as Senior Associate–External Relations of the Center for Studies in Higher Education and Founding Executive Director of the Executive Leadership Academy. ELA is a multi-day program designed to provide insights and experiences that will be useful to persons who are interested in moving to high-level university and college leadership positions, such as deans, provosts, and presidents. She also currently serves on the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Board of Directors and on the University of Wisconsin System President’s Council on Diversity, as well as the Alta Bates Summit Foundation Board and the Board of Directors of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE).

Dr. Baltodano is a noted seminar presenter and executive coach on the following topics: executive leadership development, succession and transition planning, comprehensive campaigns, board recruitment and development, multicultural competencies, and strategic planning.
